OnMay 30th, SIHI held the off-line ceremony for the world's largest rolled ringand commissioning ceremony of its large forgings project. The rolled ring is 16meters in diameter and weighs 126 tons, it has broken the original record ofworld's largest forged ring, the diameter of which is 10 meters.

More than 300 guests from the Government, association and famous enterprisesattended the production ceremony, including the Spanish ambassador to China,the German economic counsellor to China, the Deputy Minister of Economic andInfrastructure Department of the Basque Country, and the municipal leaders ofthe Zhangqiu district. As hosts, Mr. Riberras and Mr. Niu Yugang warmlywelcomed partners. Riberras expressed the willingness to share the globalresources of Gestemp group in the future. At the same time, he praised Mr. Niuand his team for their performance. Although SIHI is miles apart from Gestamp,but we have a consistent entrepreneurial spirit, hard working, honesty, humilityand perseverance. And we should continue to inherit the good qualities that wehave received from our fathers. 

One-piecerolled rings and rolled hollows are extremely important industrial basiccomponents, they are generally used in large loads and high pressure parts ofvarious large-scale equipment, such as nuclear reactor pressure vessels, heavyrockets, heavy refining-chemical machines, super large shield machines andoffshore wind power. The one-piece ring and hollow rolling technology isregarded as a kind of green forging technology due to its energy saving, neatshaping, high productivity and efficiency features. Currently, there are only ahandful of companies that have mastered the ring rolling technology with asingle finished product weighing over 100 tons. The SIHIlarge forgings project commissionedthis time, has received extensive attention from forging industry, due to itsutmost manufacturing capacity of a maximum diameter of 16 meters, a height of 3meters and a single weight of 200 tons.

Inthe workshop of the Large Forging Division of Iraeta, the reporter saw a changeof what people usually think of traditional forging companies: Heavy, large inscale but lack of sophistication. Instead, the workshop is neat, clean andbright, it's full of the latest CNC, automated and intelligentized forging,heat treatment and machining equipment in the industry. The most notable amongthem is world's largest ring rolling mill, its overall height of 22 metersabove and below ground is equivalent to 7 floors, its radical roll force of2500 tons and axial roll force of 1250 tons is the most powerful comparing withsimilar machines.
